They will need to migrate. The same process happened with other
protocols like ISDN or UUCP.

I would deactivate IPv4 immediately if all providers and hosters finally
used IPv6. However, there are still providers who offer IPv4-only
servers and sometimes only assign IPv4 to the mobile networks.

40% to 100% is still a long way off.

Especially the VPS providers are massively behind.

Worse. There are ISP thatt don't plan to introduce IPv6 and there are
administrators who don't implement IPv6 because they don want it or are
too stupid to understand it, including "dinosaur roars" like "IPv4 is
ok, we don't need IPv6".

I think it will take 10 years.

At least in Germany, many already have it.

What purpose would that accomplish?
They can request IPv6 ranges from their LIR/RIR with few simple clicks for free.

The issue is that getting IPv6 range assigned is absolutely trivial
compared for effort they need to expend to setup it so it actually does
anything.

And it is not ONLY one-time hardware upgrade cost (if current one doesn't
support IPv6, or has much reduced performance for IPv6 due to software
implementation vs. hardware-accelerated IPv4), or setup & testing costs -
there is also huge education cost for your workforce, as well as maintenance
effort for indefinite time (supporting dual stack is double the effort than
supporting single stack, regardless if it is IPv4-only or IPv6-only).

That being said, IPv6 is great and everybody should support it.
