If you live close to the sea, you can check for yourself easily: take a strong telescope, then watch a ship coming from the horizon in your direction. you will only see the very top first, than gradually more and more until you will see the full ship. there is only one explanation for this.

lol, I was not reading the whole thread before answering. But I have to say, I am not surprised that the point was not taken. If you want to believe in something really badly, you will do it even when confronted with evidence of the contrary.
