Hi,

I still have one each of the old 'free' Draytel and Sipgate accounts.

Does anyone know if these will be pulled eventually?

Also, apart from Andrews & Arnold are there any other options
for cheap UK Voip and porting landlines?

Thanks

Fiver a month for 100 minutes?

Seems expensive compared to A&A...

My "free" draytel one still carries on working (rebranded though) - only
free in the sense that you don't pay for the "trunk" - you still pay for
calls.

And my Sipgate account - which I must have had for nearly 20 years -
also still works well.

I eventually ported my Sipgate number (got in the early days to try out
VoIP) to AAISP, where I have the rest of my numbers.

It was very smooth, and Sipgate even gave me a refund of my unused account
balance!

When I was experimenting SIPgate was great for receiving calls because
you get a free number for incoming calls and only pay for outgoing (at a
not particularly good rate).

For outgoing calls I chose voiphome.com. They seemed to have good prices
for outgoing including international. You can also get an incoming
number for, IIRC, £5 per month.

I presume you can port your number in to these but I don't know for sure.

I wish people would STOP mentioning SIPgate. Yes it was great.
No longer has low cost plans.
Now useless for newcomers unless a business so NO LONGER AN OPTION.
Minimum charge for new accounts is now around £22 a month.

You can get an incoming number for £1.75+vat. £5.00 gets you a lot of
goodies including 100 minutes of calls.

So VOIPfone.co.uk is your choice for incoming.
Looks okay for incoming calls.

I still prefer voiphome.com for super cheap PAYG outgoing.
